Silverstone, UK, Apr 25, 2016. Hagerty International, the classic car insurance specialist, once again hosted their own tour on Drive it Day (the Nation’s official classic car day). Over 100 vehicles took part in the 80-mile tour from Towcester to Bicester Heritage, the participants of which raised over £2,500 in charitable donations.

Angus Forsyth, Managing Director of Hagerty International, said: "This is our tenth anniversary of hosting our own Drive It Day tour. This is our way of supporting the FBHVC’s national celebration of classic cars, as ever our generous participants have dug deep and we received over £3,000 in charitable donations, for which we are most grateful. These funds will be split between the all-important Marshals Trust, the RNLI and SOS Children’s Villages."

The cars were waved off by motoring legend Barrie ‘Whizzo’ Williams at Towcester racecourse. The route took in the scenic roads of Northants, Bucks and Oxfordshire passing through the historic market town of Buckingham and enjoying Aston and Kop Hill.

As always, there was a tremendous variety of cars from an immaculate BMW M3 to a resplendent Humber 14/40. David Scothorn, who drove his Austin Mini Cooper S Replica said ‘this route, this day and the classic specialists at Hagerty have made this such an enjoyable experience for me and many like-minded petrol heads, if only we could have Drive It Day every weekend!’

Arriving at Bicester Heritage, the participants were also able to get a valuation for their classic at Hagerty’s Valuation Arena. This popular new concept will be a feature at all of Bicester Heritage’s Sunday Scrambles and allows the owner of a car to discuss their classic with a panel of experts from Hagerty, H&H Classic Auctions, Practical Classics magazine and the online classified site classiccarsforsale.co.uk and then receive an official valuation certificate.
